Our staff The pre-school has 4 members of staff, who are all fully qualified and are CRB checked. We also employ a volunteer who helps us on a Friday morning who is also CRB checked. Children to adult ratio: four children to one adult for children between 2½ and 3 years old (4:1), eight children to one adult for children over 3 years old (8:1). From time to time, childcare students have placements with us through Waltham Forest college. We also have younger students who are attending local secondary schools and wish to do their work experience with us. All students are monitored during their time spent at the pre-school, no student is left unattended with children at any time. Our key worker system ensures that each adult is especially responsible for, and close to, just five or six children, so each child receives plenty of adult time and attention. The needs and progress of children who have special educational needs are monitored by our group's special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO). We aim to follow the DFEE Code of Practice on Special Educational Needs and also the guidelines supplied to private and voluntary providers of pre-school education. Our system of observation and record-keeping, which operates in conjunction with parents, enables us to monitor the children's needs and progress on an individual basis. |
