Opening timesThe pre-school is open every weekday
from 9.15am to 12.15 pm during term time only. There is an open "introduction to pre-school" session for children who are about to start at the pre-school and their carers, on Monday mornings from 10.00am to 12.00 noon (see Admissions, below). There is a parent and toddler messy play session on Thursday afternoons from 1 to 3pm (£1 per session). |
Fees£1.00 per session for children attending with their carers (Monday sessions).£3.50 per session for 2½ year olds. £3.00 per session for 3 year olds. The term after a child is 3, the fee is paid for by the government. Fees are paid weekly or daily as arranged with the parent, and are due in full each week. |
AdmissionsChildren are accepted on a waiting list, from the age of 18 months, by the parents filling out a registration form for their child and returning it to the pre-school. It is necessary to provide confirmation of the child's age when returning the registration form (i.e. birth certificate).Monday sessions are regarded as an introduction to pre-school for waiting list children and visitors. We recommend attendance from the term after the child's second birthday, to enable the child to familiarise him/herself with the premises, activities, routines and staff. Children aged 2½ and above will be offered up to 5 sessions per week as soon as a place becomes available. |

StaffThe pre-school has three full-time members of staff, who are all fully qualified and provide individual care to the children. The playgroup leader, Viv Jones, is also the pre-school's special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO).From time to time, childcare students have placements with us through Waltham Forest college. We also have younger students who are attending local secondary schools and wish to do their work experience with us. All students are monitored during their time spent at the pre-school, no student is left unattended with children at any time. Children to adult ratio: four children to one adult for children between 2½ and 3 years old (4:1), eight children to one adult for children over 3 years old (8:1). |

FundraisingWe are a voluntary aided, non-profit making organisation, so from time to time we have to raise funds in order to buy any large equipment we may need. This is usually done through a sponsored event. In the past we have raised funds through sponsored singing sessions, which lasted approximately 20 minutes per session: the children loved every minute! We have had a sponsored bouncy castle session that was difficult to count... Other examples include making the longest play dough snake, sports days, raffles, etc. |
